Special Items

In addition to the bombs and charms that are available from the Bombs window, you can now build up items in your inventory! Think of it as a backpack you bring to the poker table – you might have some pies or fish in there to throw at others. These inventory items are owned by you, and therefore you can use them without spending those Jacks! But, it gets better… it may not be that interesting to save up bombs that you can use just by spending a few Jacks anyway, the really cool thing is that you can build up an inventory of “special” items. These “special” items are not normally available to you – you can't just use them by paying Jacks. These items are only available if you've earned them and will show up on the “SPECIAL ITEMS” page in your Bombs & Charms window once you have some.

How do you earn them? Right now, the only way is by sponsoring Jacks in a (single table) tourney. The number of special items you get is based on the item's worth and how many jacks you sponsor in a tourney. The type of special item given is random (this will become more interesting as we add more special items!). Let's say for every 1,000 Jacks you sponsor, you'll get 150 Jacks *worth* of special items. This might mean you'll get 10 special items that are worth 15 Jacks each, or as we add more items, it could mean you only get 3 of an item worth 50 Jacks each. This may sound like you get “unlucky” by only getting a few of something when you might get a lot of another, but this effectively makes some items much rarer than others, meaning that if you use a rare bomb on someone, that really makes a statement to them, as it is harder to obtain these rare items and puts a lot more “impact” on your decision to use a high-value bomb on someone!

Whether you use these items or are greedy and keep as many special items as you can is up to you. There is a new medal – the Special Items medal – that tracks who has the highest total *value* of special items in their inventory, so building up your own personal arsenal of special items will put you high on that leaderboard ranking.

Note that you will receive your special items when the sponsored tourney *ends*, and if you are not in that tourney room when it ends, you may need to re-enter a poker room for them to be applied. A message will pop up telling you when your special items are ready if you are not in the room when your sponsored tourney ends.
